I found this book to be very thought provoking and at times hard to digest. This book takes place in a small town in New Hampshire where a school shooting occurs. A young man who is taunted and bullyied throughout his childhood and adolescent years decide's he has had enough. Picoult takes you through the main character's and how their lives have been affected. But what I found interesting, was how she really pulls at your heartstrings with the parents of the young man and how they are suffering. They loved this boy from birth, unconditionally, and beat themselvels up for not loving him more and blame themselve's. It is very sad, but really makes you sit and think.
Picoult really has way of just giving you enough on one subject or character before switching to another character that makes you want to come back and read more.
***Warning*** If you are particularly sensitive to reading about how children are treated poorly, I would recommnend not reading this book.

This book sounds interesting to me. You always read about school shootings on the news and hear about the kids who committed such a horrid crime, but you never hear about their parents' and how they must be suffering too. Should be a thought provoking read. I recently read Wally Lamb's The First Hour I Believed - which was about the effects of the Columbine shooting on a school nurse and her husband and the paths their lives took as a result. It was a brilliant read - Lamb is a great writer. I'm looking forward to Picoult's book. Thanks for the post!
